Cave de Sauveterre - Vignerons de Bordeaux

Philippe Merias was born in Saintes in 1957 and has been a professional aquarellist since 1981.
After two years at university he decided to totally dedicate himself to his real passion, that of painting and quite rapidly found the genre of painting which suited him - the aquarelle.

The Gironde estuary as seen from Charentes Maritime was his initial source of

inspiration. Since he has painted landscapes in which he has travelled but always with a strong attractio n for seascapes.
In the last few years he has added the use of natural pigments and Chinese ink to his pure aquarellist technique in order to achieve fuller colours.
Since 1989 Philippe Merias has held exhibitions every summer at Talmont sur Gironde, (17) where he spent his childhood.
